The New Reality of Cancer
The Science of Recovery
The first comprehensive integrative oncology book: evidence-based research, advanced testing from around the world, repurposed cancer drugs, natural treatment options, and patient-centered cancer care.
Written by Dr. Silver, MD, a physician and cancer survivor, with Dr. Lindmeier, DHSc, a cancer researcher and educator.
BOOK SUMMARY
What if understanding the newest cancer tests, treatments, and scientific discoveries could change the decisions you make?
A cancer diagnosis can change your life overnight. Suddenly, you face difficult decisions about treatment, survival, and the possibility of cancer returning. You want answers and to understand your options. Most importantly, you want to know whether you are doing everything possible.
Written by Dr. Silver, MD, a physician and cancer survivor, and Dr. Lindmeier, DHSc, a health sciences researcher, this integrative oncology guide draws on years of research and peer-reviewed scientific literature to help readers understand advances in cancer testing, treatment, and recovery.
Discover how advanced testing, including genomic profiling, liquid biopsies, and ctDNA, may help personalize treatment and uncover new therapeutic opportunities.
New testing of your own cancer cells can reveal which chemotherapy drugs work best and which natural compounds show activity against them, sometimes outperforming chemotherapy. This testing is available worldwide. Explore specialized immune testing and its role in personalized cancer care.
Understand the full spectrum of cancer treatments, including low-dose targeted chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted drugs, radiation, and surgery. Learn about emerging cancer vaccines, natural killer cells, dendritic cells, and lymphocytes programmed to target your cancer.
Discover metabolic strategies designed to influence cancer’s underlying biology, along with repurposed cancer drugs, vitamins, minerals, herbs, antioxidants, medicinal mushrooms, hyperthermia, oxygen, ozone, electromagnetic, and light-based therapies. Get specific recommendations organized around your cancer driver pathways and learn how to target them simultaneously.
Learn how cancer develops, including terrain, toxic load, and chronic infections; how it spreads; and what research reveals about long-term recovery.
Understand the emerging science of why cancer returns and the strategies researchers are investigating to reduce the risk of recurrence. Explore circulating tumor cells and cancer stem cells, how cancer becomes resistant to chemotherapy, what can be done about it, and how that resistance may be reversed.
Explore what research shows about diet, environment, exercise, sleep, stress management, and protecting healthy tissue during treatment.
With color illustrations and references to peer-reviewed studies, this book transforms complex cancer science into practical knowledge for patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
About Us
Dr. Silver, MD
I had lymphoma. Radiation from the cardiac procedures I performed was part of the cause. My protective apron did not cover my neck. The lymphoma was in my neck and across my mediastinum, the center of the chest between the lungs.
I never felt a lymph node in my neck. I did not feel well, so I ordered my own scans, and they found the lymphoma. That was about twenty-five years ago. Other factors included mercury amalgam fillings, infected root canals, cavitations in my jaw, hospital food, no vitamins, stress, and too little sleep.
After my diagnosis, I traveled to other countries to learn about the testing and therapies being used there. Much of what I learned is now in my book. I continue to be cancer-free at the time of this writing.
I am still here.
If you have cancer, focus on yourself. Surround yourself with people who care about your health. Your decisions should remain in the hands of people who have earned your trust. Your health deserves careful attention.
I graduated from Temple University School of Medicine in 1977 and completed my interventional cardiology fellowship in 1982. I have practiced medicine for nearly fifty years and have taught physician-to-physician programs in integrative oncology internationally. I now educate people globally through consultation. Much of my life’s work is now in my book.

My path into this work began long before my degrees or professional roles. It began at home, caring for my mother through her terminal illness. Walking beside her through that experience reshaped my understanding of healthcare.
I saw how overwhelming the system can be for patients and families, how fragmented the information is, and how much people need clarity, advocacy, and someone who can translate complex information into something they can act on. That experience redirected my life.
After she passed, I committed myself fully to healthcare. I earned my Doctor of Health Science degree from Nova Southeastern University, focusing on global healthcare administration, and completed the program in 2025. Dr. Silver mentored me throughout my doctoral training.
I completed my practicum in integrative oncology, studying how traditional and metabolic approaches can work together to support patients more completely. I was Dr. Silver’s student long before I became his colleague. That foundation shaped the way I approach every patient and family I work with today.
I now work with cancer patients around the world as a cancer educator and advocate. I help people understand their records, testing options, and the broad landscape of conventional and integrative cancer care. My work brings together caregiving, doctoral research, mentorship, survivorship, and patient advocacy.
